Mobile World Congress 2011 is on the edge, the event held in Barcelona from 14 to 17 February. Every other firm have plans to demonstrate their product in the event. So the korean firm Samsung plans to demonstrate two new CMOS sensor-based applications for mobile phones and smartphones.
First one the Model S5K3L1, smartphones premium contains 1 / 3 ,2-Inch 12-megapixel sensor and built using the BSI (back side illuminated) backlight technology , which allows for shooting in low light level with minimal noise. In addition, the new system has an additional optional filter RGB-white, lets get more vivid images (by 30% compared with conventional RGB filters). Separately referred to the implementation of some functions designed to eliminate distortions in pictures. Samsung S5K3L1 sensor can capture video in Full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, in the resolution of HD 720p – at a rate of 90 frames per second, resolution VGA – 120 frames per second. New product designed for use with cameras the size of the modules 8,5 x8, 5×6, 0 mm with autofocus. Thus, engineers can use it in a thin mobile devices. Samsung S5K3L1 sensor is currently available as separate samples, and start its mass production is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
Another is high-level CMOS sensor S5K3H2. It also performed in the form factor of 1 / 3, 2-inch technology-based reverse lights, but its resolution is 8 megapixels. Used in this case, BSI technology have low power consumption, so S5K3H2 sensor can operate at a supply voltage of 1.2 V, which allows you to extend the life of mobile devices from a single battery charge. S5K3H2 sensor is capable of recording video in Full HD 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second, resolution HD 720p – at 60 frames per second, resolution VGA – 120 frames per second. Supports the ability to implement continuous shooting pictures at up to 15 frames per second. The device is also designed for use with cameras the size of the modules 8,5 x8, 5×6, 0 mm with autofocus. This model is already available in the form of individual samples, and start its mass production will take place during the second quarter of this year.
